Phone System

Boundary House has a phone system that has a call handling function to enable you to queue in the system for the relevant department, rather than having to re-dial the practice.

Options are :

1 - Appointments

4 - Results  (open between 10am-2pm)

5 - General enquiries

6 - Secretaries

Get the best from your appointment!

Each appointment slot is allocated a time of up to 10 minutes.

Please plan ahead for your appointment to make sure you cover everything you want to discuss.

Patients should be aware that if you are more than 10 minutes late for an appointment, it is likely that the clinician you are booked in with will not be able to see you due to other patients being booked in after you.

Medical problems can often take longer than the time allocated for one appointment. At times, therefore, your Doctor or Nurse maybe running late (If so, it is because a problem has required more time than usual to be dealt with properly. We would ask for your patience on occasions such as this.

Urgent Same Day Appointments

Urgent appointments for those patients who feel they need to be seen the same day due to an urgent clinical need, will be subject to telephone triage by the duty doctor. Please be aware that you may not automatically be offered an appointment. Where appropriate, advice may be offered over the phone.

Full to Capacity

When we have reached the capacity for the day, you may be informed we have reached our capacity, this is to ensure that adequate time is available to the patients already booked in and be dealt with in safe and unhurried environment.   When we have reached this and you require to be seen on the day and cannot wait for the next routine appointment, you will be signposted by the admin team where you can gain advice or be seen.

If we have your mobile telephone number a text message will be sent to you when

a) You book an appointment


b) 24 hours before your appointment is due, ( if done in advance)

Please advise our reception staff of your correct mobile number.

Booked ahead appointments

calendarWe offer booked ahead appointments for up to 4 weeks in advance to assist in work planning or for arranging a carer to bring you to the surgery.

Online booking for appointments

This enables you to book and/or cancel your appointment safely over the internet or via digital television. If you would like to use this service then you will need a PIN activation code which you can get from the practice, with instructions for use. Click on the link at the bottom of the page. [Please note : This service is unavailable for 1 hour 10pm-11pm each evening, whilst the system is off line for essential daily maintenance]

Telephone Appointments

We offer telephone appointments, these can be booked with a Doctor or Nurse. These appointment are suitable when you wish to consult with the clinician without the need of an examination. When booking a telephone appointment the receptionist will ask you for the contact telephone number you will be ringing from for your telephone appointment.

Extended Hours Appointments

We offer early morning appointments on Tuesday from 7am and Friday from 7.30am, these can be booked via the internet or on the main surgery number 0161.972.9999.

During the Extended hours times and prior to our main surgery line opening at 8am, you can contact the practice to cancel an appointment should you wish, contact number just for this service/period is: 07918.638397

Failure to attend

We lose a great deal of appointment time each week to patients who fail to either cancel their appointments on time or do not attend at all. Please help us to reduce this number by advising us in good time if you cannot attend, thereby allowing another patient to be seen.
